On October 23, 2020, at approximately 4:02 a.m., Birmingham police and fire personnel responded to a house fire at 1355 Hartford Drive. Inside the residence, they discovered 74-year-old Janette Armstrong Cung and her husband, 74-year-old Jonathan Cung, lying unresponsive on the floor. Janette was pronounced dead at the scene, while Jonathan was transported to St. Vincent’s East Hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
