In the early evening of January 17, 2025, the sound of approximately thirty-six gunshots shattered the peace in the 600 block of 26th Street Southwest in Birmingham, Alabama. When West Precinct officers arrived at the scene, they discovered a grim tableau. Twenty-four-year-old Jeshaun Chambers was found unresponsive in the roadway, a victim of the gunfire that had erupted moments before. Birmingham Fire and Rescue personnel pronounced him deceased at the scene.
