LaVentrice Denise Tolbert, 40, a Black woman, was fatally shot late on the night of September 24, 2025, inside a residence on the 1100 block of Kiser Road in Birmingham's Huffman area. Officers responding around 11:47 p.m. found her unresponsive from a gunshot wound; she was pronounced dead at the scene shortly after midnight. Several other people were inside the home when the gunfire erupted. Investigators quickly classified the killing as domestic-related.
