A night of enjoyment in Birmingham, Alabama, turned into a tragedy that ended the life of 21-year-old Lykeria Taylor. In the early morning hours of Sunday, June 13, 2021, Taylor and her boyfriend had just left Club Euphoria on the city's west side. As they were driving near the intersection of Avenue V and Warrior Road, an unknown vehicle pulled up alongside theirs and an occupant opened fire, striking both Taylor and her boyfriend.
Both victims were rushed to UAB Hospital for treatment.
While her boyfriend was expected to recover from his injuries, Taylor's wounds proved to be fatal. She succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead on Monday, June 14, 2021. The sudden and violent nature of her death left her family and community in shock and mourning. Before her life was cut short, Taylor was working for the U.S. Postal Service and was described by her family as being excited about enjoying life.
In the months following the shooting, the Birmingham Police Department continued to investigate the homicide. They publicly asked for anyone with information regarding the shooting to come forward to assist in the investigation. However, despite these appeals for public assistance, there have been no announcements regarding any arrests made or suspects identified in connection with the murder of Lykeria Taylor. The case remains an unsolved homicide, and her family continues to seek justice for her untimely death.
