Police in Birmingham are investigating a homicide after a relative discovered a woman's body in the 1300 block of 21st Street North Friday night.
Sgt. Bryan Shelton identified the victim as 57-year-old Vergil Angela Cook.
Investigators initially thought Cook's death was natural. On Saturday, they learned an examination of Cook's body revealed stab wounds and the case became a homicide investigation.
