On July 8, 2022, at approximately 6:07 p.m., Birmingham Police Department officers responded to a shooting near the intersection of Center Street and 4th Avenue South. Upon arrival, they discovered 32-year-old Kiara Holcombe unresponsive in the driver's seat of a vehicle that had collided with a fence. She had sustained multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced deceased at the scene by Birmingham Fire and Rescue.
