In a case described by authorities as domestic violence, 55-year-old Monica Long Gratton was killed in Birmingham, Alabama. Her death on December 3, 2020, was caused by blunt force trauma.

An investigation into her death led to the arrest of Anthony Shundale Moore, who was 50 years old at the time of the conviction. In October 2022, a Jefferson County jury found Moore guilty of killing Gratton. He was scheduled for sentencing the following month.
