On June 4, 2021, at approximately 5:10 a.m., 27-year-old Briona Leshay Groom was found by Birmingham police officers in her vehicle, which had collided with a chain-link fence on Eastlake Boulevard. Upon removing her from the car, officers discovered she had sustained multiple gunshot wounds. Emergency medical personnel transported her to UAB Hospital for treatment.
