On April 4, 2021, 32-year-old Areyelle Meishaun Yarbrough was fatally shot during a gathering at W.C. Patton Park in Birmingham, Alabama. The incident occurred around 7:00 p.m. on Easter Sunday, when hundreds of people were present in the park. Yarbrough was found lying on the ground just outside the passenger door of her vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene.
