On July 28, 2019, four-year-old Jurnee Coleman was inside her family's apartment in the Marks Village public housing community in Birmingham, Alabama, when a stray bullet entered the residence and struck her in the head. The gunfire originated from an altercation between two individuals outside the apartment complex. Jurnee was immediately transported to Children's of Alabama hospital, where she remained in critical condition until succumbing to her injuries on July 31, 2019.
