In the early morning hours of August 16, 2019, in Montgomery, Alabama, a tragic event unfolded that cut short the life of 7-year-old Omarion Greenhouse. The young male was in his own home when he was fatally shot. The incident occurred shortly before 1 a.m. when the child, having awakened during the night, left his bed.
His movement in the house apparently startled 32-year-old Willie Sankey, who had been asleep on the living room couch.
Reacting to being awakened, Sankey fired a gun, striking and fatally wounding the young boy. Emergency services were called, and Omarion was transported to a nearby hospital, but he was ultimately pronounced dead.
In the wake of the shooting, the Montgomery Police Department launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the child's death. Their findings led to the arrest of Willie Sankey. He was subsequently charged with capital murder in connection with the fatal shooting of Omarion Greenhouse. Following his arrest, Sankey was held at the Montgomery County Detention Facility without bond.
