On a spring afternoon in Montgomery, Alabama, the life of Michael Cook, a 45-year-old male from the nearby city of Prattville, was tragically cut short. On May 6, 2022, at approximately 12:30 PM, Cook was fatally shot in the 3500 block of Dalraida Court. The incident prompted an investigation by the Montgomery Police Department.
For several months, the case remained under investigation. Then, on November 18, 2022, a significant development occurred. Montgomery Police Department homicide detectives identified 31-year-old Travis Mims, also from Prattville, as the suspect in Cook's murder. At the time, Mims was already in the custody of the Department of Corrections on unrelated charges. Detectives served him with a warrant for the murder of Michael Cook.
Following the serving of the warrant, Travis Mims was transferred to the Montgomery County Detention Facility. He was held without bond on the murder charge. The arrest brought a measure of resolution to the investigation into the shooting death of Michael Cook. Funeral services for Cook were held on May 21, 2022, at Prattville Memorial Chapel & Memory Gardens.
