In the fall of 2020, the life of a 38-year-old Black / African American man named LeThonia Carlos Phillips was tragically cut short in Mobile, Alabama. On the evening of Sunday, October 11, what began as an ordinary day ended in bloodshed and a web of deceit. The initial report to the Prichard Police Department suggested a suicide, a narrative spun by Phillips's girlfriend, Taji Austin.
