On June 29, 2021, at approximately 11:22 p.m., Mobile Police officers responded to a shooting incident in the 2600 block of Florida Street. Upon arrival, they discovered 74-year-old James Leevaughn Jones deceased from a gunshot wound. Investigations revealed that Jones was an unintended victim in a series of violent events that began earlier that evening.
