On January 13, 2016, 19-year-old Daniel Torry of Harvey, Louisiana, was fatally shot in the parking lot of the Heights at Skyland Apartments in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. Authorities believe Torry, en route to visit his girlfriend in Tennessee, exited the interstate in Tuscaloosa to purchase marijuana. During this stop, he was robbed of $200 and shot.
