Jesse Lemuel "Lem" Jones, a 41-year-old officer of the Decatur Police Department, lost his life on November 25, 1906, though some sources indicate the date as November 24. He was born on July 22, 1865, in Blount County, Alabama, to W. B. and Mary Jones.
