On August 8, 2024, in Grove Oak, Alabama, authorities conducted a welfare check at the residence of 84-year-old Beverly Vitale and her 60-year-old son, Scott Vitale. After multiple unsuccessful attempts to contact the occupants, deputies entered the home and discovered both individuals deceased from apparent gunshot wounds. Evidence collected at the scene indicated that Scott had fatally shot his mother before taking his own life.
