In the late hours of July 3, 2022, a domestic altercation in the parking lot of a Church's Chicken on 3rd Avenue North in Birmingham, Alabama, turned fatal for 25-year-old Darneshia Mosley, a Black/African American female. During the dispute, which occurred at approximately 11:45 p.m., Mosley sustained gunshot wounds. She was quickly transported to UAB Hospital for medical attention.
Despite the efforts of medical staff, Darneshia Mosley succumbed to her injuries and passed away on July
4, 2022. The Jefferson County Coroner's Office subsequently ruled her death a homicide. The Birmingham Police Department launched an investigation into the shooting, with a focus on the domestic nature of the conflict that led to her death.
In the wake of the tragedy, family and friends mourned the loss of Mosley. Her funeral services were held on July 16, 2022, at Antioch Missionary Baptist Church, followed by her burial at Oakland Memorial Gardens.
