On May 25, 2007, Amanda Bryant, a 21-year-old transient and known prostitute, was found deceased from a gunshot wound to the head at the intersection of 36th Avenue West and 32nd Court West in Birmingham, Alabama. The circumstances surrounding her death remained unclear for over two years.
