On the morning of November 16, 2022, 14-year-old Moriah Quib-Marquez was fatally shot while traveling in an SUV with her family in Birmingham, Alabama. The incident occurred around 8:10 a.m. in the 500 block of 80th Street North. A ShotSpotter alert registered over 20 rounds fired in the area. Responding officers found the SUV had collided with a utility pole, with Moriah and her mother suffering from gunshot wounds.
