Monica Russell in an interview Wednesday night said she fears Birmingham is in danger of becoming a city without young people. Too many, like her daughter LaWanda, are being killed in the city's continuing crime and violence.

LaWanda Russell, 17, was fatally shot Monday night, just hours after she had registered to become an 11th-grader at Wenonah High School.
