On September 2, 2022, in Birmingham, Alabama, 22-year-old Demarkus Etwan Moss, Sr., was driving with his two young children, including his then two-year-old daughter, Madison Grace Davis, along Arkadelphia Road. Around 6 p.m., an assailant in a nearby vehicle opened fire on Moss's car. Despite being struck by gunfire, Moss continued driving for approximately half a mile before colliding with another vehicle.
