On August 4, 2018, Sikeisha Mitchell, a 36-year-old Black female from Birmingham, Alabama, was found deceased in her apartment at 909 23rd Street South. Responding to reports of a shooting, Birmingham Police officers discovered her unresponsive with a gunshot wound to the head. She was pronounced dead at the scene by Birmingham Fire and Rescue personnel.
