On December 16, 2019, 47-year-old Cheri Lashunda Twilley was fatally shot in Birmingham, Alabama. The incident began around 7:30 p.m. at a convenience store on Tuscaloosa Avenue, where Twilley and her son were approached by 26-year-old Adam Jamal Isom. Isom made advances toward Twilley, which she politely declined before leaving the store.
