On July 20, 2024, at approximately 4:45 p.m., a man entered the Birmingham Police Department's East Precinct and informed a patrol sergeant that he had shot someone at the Murphy USA gas station located at 121 Roebuck Plaza Drive in Birmingham, Alabama. Officers promptly responded to the scene and discovered 54-year-old Richard Allen Judkins lying unresponsive on the floor, suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.
