On September 12, 2019, at approximately 8:18 p.m., Birmingham police responded to reports of gunfire at 2900 22nd Place in the Ensley neighborhood. Upon arrival, officers discovered 18-year-old Javaruise Lerico Lewis unresponsive inside a residence, suffering from a gunshot wound.
