On May 26, 2019, Michael Hooker, aged 44, was fatally stabbed in the 2700 block of Martin Luther King, Jr. Avenue, SE, Washington, D.C. The incident occurred at approximately 5:40 PM. Responding officers from the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) found Hooker unconscious with severe lacerations, including a fatal wound to the right side of his neck caused by a piece of glass. Despite immediate medical attention, Hooker was pronounced dead upon arrival at the hospital.
