On March 11, 2024, at approximately 4:53 p.m., Birmingham Police Department officers responded to a report of a person shot in the 10 Block of 1st Avenue Southwest, located in the Titusville community. Upon arrival, they discovered 43-year-old Jerry Edward Lewis Jr. lying unresponsive on the ground, suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. Birmingham Fire and Rescue Services pronounced him deceased at the scene.
