On April 10, 2018, at approximately 3:20 p.m., deputies responded to a shooting on Hillview Lane in Center Point, Alabama. Upon arrival, they discovered 30-year-old Gavan Jamal Averhart deceased in the driver's seat of a vehicle, having suffered a fatal gunshot wound. Another male occupant was transported to a local hospital with serious injuries. Inside the vehicle, authorities found a firearm, illegal drugs, and cash.
