In the late evening of August 7, 2023, the life of 33-year-old D'Arcy Joseph, a Black male from Hueytown, Alabama, was tragically cut short. Just after 8:00 p.m., officers from the Birmingham Police Department's East Precinct were dispatched to the 5000 block of 41st Way North following reports of shots fired. Upon their arrival, they discovered a vehicle riddled with bullets in an alleyway.
Inside the car, they found D'Arcy Joseph unresponsive, having sustained an apparent gunshot
wound. Birmingham Fire and Rescue personnel were called to the scene, but it was too late; Joseph was pronounced deceased. The preliminary investigation suggested that the alleyway was a known gathering spot. The Birmingham Police Department swiftly launched a homicide investigation into the circumstances surrounding Joseph's death.
As of the latest available information, no arrests have been made in connection with the shooting, and no suspects have been publicly identified. The case remains an open and active homicide investigation.
