On August 20, 2023, at approximately 12:23 a.m., Birmingham Police Department officers responded to a report of a person shot in the 1700 block of 32nd Place North in the Norwood neighborhood. Upon arrival, they discovered 40-year-old Morris Brown Scott unresponsive outside an apartment, suffering from a gunshot wound. Birmingham Fire and Rescue personnel pronounced him deceased at the scene.
