In the early morning hours of April 17, 2023, the life of 22-year-old Brandon Lamar Urquhart, a Black male, was cut short by gunfire in Birmingham, Alabama. The fatal shooting occurred at an apartment complex located in the 600 block of Earline Circle.
Responding to reports of a person shot at approximately 2:15 a.m., Birmingham Police Department officers discovered Urquhart inside an apartment, suffering from a gunshot wound.
He was quickly transported to UAB Hospital for medical attention, but he ultimately succumbed to his injuries.
Preliminary investigations by homicide detectives suggest that Urquhart was shot outside of the apartment. The person responsible for the shooting is believed to have fled the scene on foot. At the time of the initial reports, a detailed description of the suspect was not available, and no arrests had been made in connection with the killing.
The Birmingham Police Department continues to investigate the homicide and has urged anyone with information to come forward. As of the latest available information, no suspects have been publicly identified or taken into custody, and the case remains an open and ongoing investigation.
