On December 19, 2023, 53-year-old Hera Lorenzo Lyons was found fatally shot inside his residence in the 2000 block of 16th Street North in Bessemer, Alabama. A family member discovered Lyons' body after being unable to reach him by phone and contacted the authorities. Responding officers pronounced him dead at the scene.
