Hera Lorenzo Lyons, a 53-year-old Black man from Bessemer, Alabama, died on December 19, 2023, after violence entered what should have been the safety of home. The public reporting says family members had been unable to reach him by phone, and that worry led to the terrible discovery. He was found fatally shot inside his residence in Bessemer that Tuesday, turning an ordinary December afternoon into a scene of grief and police tape.
