In the early morning hours of July 2, 2010, a promising life was tragically cut short in Bessemer, Alabama. Maurice 'Mo' Thomas, a 23-year-old African American male, was fatally shot at the Gettie Boyz Motorcycle Club, a private establishment located at 22nd Street and First Avenue North. The incident, which also resulted in injuries to two other individuals, unfolded around 3 a.m. following an altercation between two men inside the club.
