On September 9, 2024, at approximately 3:45 p.m., 21-year-old James Sencer Bowen Jr. was shot in the parking lot of Engineered Plastics Components Inc., located in the 5900 block of Greenwood Parkway in Bessemer, Alabama. Following the shooting, Bowen was transported to UAB Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries about an hour later.
