In the spring of 2021, the life of 18-year-old Orlando Keith Williams Jr. was cut tragically short inside a Bessemer, Alabama hotel. On April 10th, Williams was shot and killed at the Comfort Inn located on Academy Lane. His mother would later express a belief that her son was set up to be killed.
The investigation into the death of the young man led to the arrests of four teenagers. Among those charged in connection with the homicide were two 16-year-olds.
The group faced legal consequences for their alleged involvement in the events that transpired at the Bessemer hotel.
In November 2024, one of the suspects, Tyreek McCall, was convicted of intentional murder for his role in the death of Orlando Williams Jr. The verdict was delivered by a jury, and Judge David Carpenter presided over the case. While McCall's conviction marked a significant development in the pursuit of justice for Williams, the legal outcomes for the other three individuals charged in the case remained less clear at the time of his conviction. McCall's sentencing was scheduled to take place at a later date.
