In the late hours of a Tuesday in Bessemer, Alabama, the life of 17-year-old Acorian Bud King, a Black male, was tragically cut short. On August 17, 2021, the Bessemer Stop and Go convenience store on Dartmouth Avenue became the scene of a fatal shooting. King, a student at Bessemer City High School, was inside the store when a dispute broke out. Authorities believe he was an innocent bystander, caught in the crossfire of a fight that was not his own.
