On August 17, 2021, 17-year-old Acorian "Bud" King was fatally shot at the Stop and Go convenience store on Dartmouth Avenue in Bessemer, Alabama. King, a senior at Bessemer City High School, was an innocent bystander when a fight erupted inside the store. During the altercation, gunfire broke out, resulting in King's death and injuries to two adults. The injured individuals were transported to local hospitals, with their conditions reported as life-threatening.
