In a tragic turn of events stemming from a neighborhood dispute, 76-year-old Alverner Blanks, a male resident of Bessemer, Alabama, succumbed to injuries sustained in a brutal assault. The incident, which occurred in September 2021, was the result of an argument over money with his neighbor, Monyuett Hinson.
The disagreement escalated to a shocking level of violence when Hinson allegedly struck Blanks with a space heater. The force of the blow left him unconscious. Another neighbor discovered the gravely injured man, and he was promptly transported to a local hospital for medical attention.
Despite two weeks of hospital care, Blanks' condition did not sufficiently improve, and he was subsequently moved to an assisted-living facility. He passed away on September 24, 2021.
Initially, Monyuett Hinson was taken into custody on a charge of attempted murder and was later released on bond. However, following the death of Mr. Blanks, law enforcement authorities arrested her again, this time on the more severe charge of capital murder.
