On May 22, 2020, the body of 45-year-old Michael Jones, a resident of Columbus, Mississippi, was discovered in an abandoned house on Fairfax Avenue in Bessemer, Alabama. Jones had been reported missing two days earlier after failing to return home from work. His pickup truck was located on Clarendon Avenue, leading investigators to the nearby vacant residence where his body was found. Authorities determined that Jones had died from a gunshot wound.
