On March 1, 2022, at approximately 7:30 p.m., 49-year-old inmate William Eric Jennings was found unresponsive in his two-man cell at the William E. Donaldson Correctional Facility in Bessemer, Alabama. He had sustained blunt force trauma during a reported assault by another inmate. Despite medical intervention, Jennings succumbed to his injuries several hours later.
