On a late autumn afternoon in Bessemer, Alabama, the lives of Dandre Paige, a Black male, and his companion, Jekeria Osborn, were tragically cut short. The two were traveling together in a dark blue Chevrolet Malibu on November 21, 2019, when they were the victims of a brazen shooting. The incident occurred in broad daylight at a busy intersection on Alabama Adventure Parkway, near the I-20/59 interchange.
Both Paige and Osborn sustained fatal gunshot wounds and were pronounced dead at the scene by responding Bessemer Fire and Rescue personnel.
The immediate aftermath of the shooting was a scene of confusion and quick action by a witness. After the shooting, the victims' vehicle began to slowly move forward. A witness got into the car to stop it and discovered Paige in the passenger seat with severe injuries. Another witness reported seeing a small, dark-colored sedan leaving the area, heading southbound on Alabama Adventure Parkway.
