On April 21, 2022, at approximately 8:10 p.m., 30-year-old Javail Lamar Hodges was fatally shot in the 2400 block of Berkley Avenue in Bessemer, Alabama. According to reports, Hodges was standing outside a vehicle, conversing with someone inside, when he was shot multiple times. The vehicle then fled the scene. Hodges was transported to UAB Medical West Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.
