On December 27, 2016, 17-year-old Colt Coggins was fatally shot during an illegal gun transaction in Hueytown, Alabama. Coggins, a senior at Brookwood High School, had arranged to purchase a firearm through social media. The meeting took place on the 500 block of Carver Avenue, where he was accompanied by two friends.
