In the fading daylight of a February evening in Bessemer, Alabama, the life of 19-year-old Deandre Briggs was tragically cut short. On February 8, 2017, Briggs was found suffering from a gunshot wound inside a vehicle that had crashed into a utility pole near a gas station. He was rushed to a local hospital but succumbed to his injuries, leaving a community to grapple with the sudden and violent loss.
