On February 8, 2017, 19-year-old D'Andre Derrico Briggs was fatally shot in Bessemer, Alabama. Authorities discovered Briggs with a gunshot wound to the chest in an alley on the 800 block of 4th Avenue North around 4 p.m.; he was pronounced dead at the scene. Investigations revealed that a second individual was present during the incident but remained unharmed.
