In the summer of 2022, violence within the walls of Donaldson Correctional Facility in Bessemer, Alabama, claimed the life of 41-year-old Mitchell R. Cosby. On Wednesday, June 15, an altercation between inmates escalated, resulting in Cosby being fatally stabbed. He was serving a life sentence at the facility for a murder committed in Jefferson County.
