On March 29, 2023, 21-year-old Walterius Jamal Barnes was fatally shot in Bessemer, Alabama. The incident occurred around 3:00 p.m. in the 2900 block of Fairfax Avenue. Barnes was in his vehicle when he sustained multiple gunshot wounds, causing his car to crash into a nearby house. He was transported to UAB Hospital, where he was pronounced dead later that evening.
