On September 9, 2024, at approximately 3:45 p.m., 21-year-old James Sencer Bowen Jr. was shot in the parking lot of Engineered Plastics Components Inc., located in the 5900 block of Greenwood Parkway in Bessemer, Alabama. Bowen, a resident of Birmingham, was transported to UAB Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries about an hour later.
