On August 30, 2024, at approximately 11:40 p.m., 41-year-old Wesley Fowler Jr. was fatally shot at a Citgo gas station located at 200 Fourth Avenue North in Bessemer, Alabama. The incident began when suspects drove by the gas station and opened fire into the parking lot. Fowler, along with two other men—20-year-old Ronald Demetrius Dixon Jr. and 25-year-old Christopher Dajuan Eddins—sought refuge inside the gas station's store.
