On April 3, 2021, 31-year-old African American male DeMario Lawrence Kirkland was fatally shot in Bessemer, Alabama. The incident occurred around 6:43 p.m. in the 100 block of 10th Street South. Emergency responders transported Kirkland to a local hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries at approximately 8:00 p.m.
