On April 3, 2021, at approximately 6:43 p.m., Bessemer police responded to reports of a shooting in the 100 block of 10th Street South. Upon arrival, they discovered 31-year-old Demario Lawrence Kirkland suffering from gunshot wounds. He was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced deceased at 8:00 p.m.

Preliminary investigations revealed that Kirkland was in the vicinity of 10th Street South when the shooting occurred. The circumstances leading up to the incident were ...Read More
