In the fading light of a Sunday evening in Bessemer, Alabama, on February 9, 2020, the life of 17-year-old Zykeith Peavy was tragically cut short. Peavy, a Black male, had arranged to meet with a 15-year-old acquaintance on the 4600 block of Little Drive before 10 p.m. for the purpose of purchasing a gun.
